Thunderdomesticity: The F-Word

Thunderdomesticity: The F-Word is a national juried exhibition designed to honor the strength of women (including but not limited to: cis women, trans women, non-binary, two-spirit, and gender fluid people). The current political climate can feel like the end of the world due to everyday misogyny plus the loss of bodily autonomy for many. Since most post-apocalyptic narratives frequently exclude or mistreat women, the Thunderdomesticity: The F-Word exhibition will feature artists who uplift women. This show will celebrate feminism, which is often considered an “f-word” in regressive regions.

46 artists from across the United Stated joined together to share work that is feminist, dystopian, and everything in between! Klaire Lockheart, host of the Femininity in the Post-Apocalypse podcast, served as juror. She selected incredible photography, thoughtful paintings, delightful prints, and wonderful mixed-media pieces along with many other types of memorable artwork. The opening reception for Thunderdomesticity: The F-Word will be on Final Friday, May 31st at No. 7 Center Gallery, 7 Center Street, Vermillion, SD. The celebration begins at 5:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm. This exhibition is hosted by the Packard Group, LLC, and it’s free and open to the public. Professional prints of the selected artwork will be displayed on the north exterior wall of No. 7 Center Gallery until June 28th, 2024.
